I remember watching a short clip from a movie I have not seen till today. because I don't know it's title, I only know that Jim Carrey starred in it. So if you can recognize the movie with the description I am about to give you, just let me know.
Anyway, it was dark at night, and a guy was shown walking to his car with what looked liked grocery bags in his hands( am not sure), He got Into his car, looked behind him to drop the grocery bags, and then right there before him was a man(guessing it's Jim Carrey) sitting there, except this man was not ordinary, yeah! And he was not even the good kind of ordinary either, if you know what I mean. He was the stuff of nightmares, well to most people, if you are most people(cos I have come to understand that nightmare is relative), he had fangs for teeth, long and sharp nails, his clothes were worn and covered with blood.
well, just use your imagination, i am sorry I can not give a detailed description of this extraordinary creature, cos it's not the point if my story anyways, and also I can't really remember in details anymore what it looks like, it was a long time ago, and yeah! it has been that long.
but what I can't seem to forget is the reaction of this guy who was face to face with a vampire (if my description fits well). It was one of the most funny thing I had ever seen. The man just sat there, closed his eyes and said to him self repeatedly "it's not real" while the creature was about to, you know do his thing.
I remember laughing, cos the scenes was obviously hilarious, I mean it's Jim Carrey! but then, I also thought, this could actually happen, obviously not the vampire part, we all know they don't exist right? But the part where this man was face to face with something that could potentially kill him, but all be could do instead of screaming or running, was just sit there and whisper to himself "it's not real" repeatedly.
Fear is a crazy thing, and when it grips you, it's like you have no control over it. it's like jumping down a water slide, once you starts going down, all you can do is just ride it until it stops, and hopes it doesn't kill you, because there's nothing you can do about it until you get to the end of the ride. Does that make sense to you at all.
Causes of fear
Fear is something we all experience. Personally for me, i've come to realize that, I tend to experience fear when;
★ I am not in my comfort zone.
★ When i don't know what to expect,
★when I can't predict the outcome of an event.
basically, fear of the unknown, and that causes what I call the what if's syndrome;
what if I approach that man to ask for help and he just ignores me, I don't want to be embarrassed.
what if I jump, and it leads to my death,
what if i start this and it doesn't work out, I don't know this might not be a good investment
And for some, it's so bad, that we can't even consider the options before we conclude and just freeze as a result of the shock from our fears. And as a result, we can't truly live, which often leads us to regretting.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying we will regret everything we didn't do as a result our fear, I mean it is there for a reason, it has it's own purpose. It is there to help us, and keep us in check and stop us from crossing some boundaries, it's like a control. so it has it's advantages, it's functions. So fear is not all that bad. What I am saying is, don't let it stop you from LIVING, don't let it stop you from taking chances.
I would love to give you some tips on how you can face your fears, and overcome them, but I am sure there's is enough of those kinds of post out there. So, I will love to give you 5 quotes that will hopefully help take the steps to help you overcome your fears.
