You find yourself falling down a hole screaming at the top of your voice, while also trying to grab onto something to stop your plummet uncontrollable into the hole, but you couldn't find anything to hold on to.
Suddenly you felt yourself hit the ground. You landed quite well, despite the fact that you were not quite prepared for the fall.
You then got on your feet and then check your self for injuries, they were to be expected because the drop was a rough one. But there were surprisingly non except your perfect fingers though, they were roughed up from you trying to grab onto something while you were falling down the hole.
You quickly take a look around you and immediately realized that you were in a corridor, well you can't really say because the torches that were used for lighting were barley burning but from what you could tell the corridor looks like something you have seen in dungeons, from the medival movies you liked watching. The walls were rough and the ground were smoother than how you were expecting them to be.
You heard a sound down the corridor. it sounded more like a screech, you then decided to approach and investigate the sound, against your better judgement.
The closer you got to the source the more darker the corridor becomes.
After a few meters of walking, you found yourself in a room, a old room and from the looks of it, it is very dusty and needs to be tidied up, although you notice a candle barely burning on a stood placed in a corner of the room.
You try to look for clues that might let you know who or what is living in this room, when you suddenly realize that, something was breathing down your neck.
Immediately your imagination starts running wild, and you started picturing all the monsters you've read and heard about in the stories your mother told you, when you were little. You wanted to run, but where do you run to, you could barely see in the room, plus the monster is probably just behind you, because you can feel it's breath on your neck. You then decided to wake up and look the creature in the eyes and hope it is as scared of you as you are scared of it.
As you turned back to check, you started reciting Psalm 21 hoping that the God you've been taking for granted all this while will have mercy and avail himself for your salvation. And behold you would never have imagined what was behind you, not in a million years. For standing right there before you was your...
DISAPPOINTMENT!
It was starring at you, with hunger in it's blood thirsty eyes. You stared back into its eyes, and suddenly fear grips you, and your mouth opens up without notice and you hear yourself scream.
Then suddenly, bright light fills the room. By the time your eyes adjusted to the light, realized you were in your room dirty room, shouting JESUS! and it was already morning, for it was just a dream.
Don't ask me how I knew all this. I just do.
Anyways which brings me to what I wanted to talk to you about.
Have you ever wanted something, and not get it, or maybe you did get it, but it was not how you pictured it.
Or maybe someone wanted something from/for you. But due to some reasons that you could not control or maybe you even could, you were unable to meet their EXPECTATIONS.
Expectations, what are they, and what do they want... Not that it is a living thing.
Expectations are basically our desires in attained desires and the beautiful thing is, everyone has them. Your parent has them, your friends have them, your spouse have them, your kids have them also, your teachers have them, and you also have them.Everyone has expectations, which means everyone desires something that they don't yet have. These desires ranges from little things like the type of breakfast you would love to have when you wake up in the morning, to the big ones like the food you would love to have for dinner when you get back home especially late nights. You know these things are very important and when our expectations are met, we experience Joy, happiness and all the good feelings the world has to offer.
Here's where I'm heading to, where most people don't know how to handle and this is when you realize that your desires will not come to realization, when our expectations were not met, we then feel "Disappointment"
Disappointment is a feeling of sadness or frustration. We feel it when the expectations we strongly hold on to is not met. Disappointment is that emotion we do not really know how to handle, because no one really prepares for it, even though we know it might come out that way, we still do not want it and therefore don't prepare so much for it because who the heck wants to be disappointed? The intensity of this feeling depends on how big your expectations is.
You know screaming is not really the best way of handling disappointment. You'd think with the rate at which some people experience disappointment, one would have become a master of disappointment(for lack of a better tag).
I'm not going to give you tips to help you handle your disappointment or deal with it, because as well as everyone other person on earth, I am no master of disappointment, and I know there are a lot of write up on that on the internet.
So, here's what I'll do, I will list couple of things you should avoid doing when you are feeling Disappointed.
By The Way, SCREAMING? you were face to face with your disappointment , and your first reaction was to scream 😏, hmmm!
Was scaring the "disappointment ghost" away with your scream the plan. I'm pretty sure you know better now that that doesn't work.
So here are some other "don't(s)" you shouldn't do when ever you are feeling disappointed.
Apart from the obvious ones like.
★Make sure you don't starve yourself.
★Make sure you exercise your body, instead of locking your self up somewhere.
★ Cheer yourself up.
Here are 4 Things You Should Not Do When Feeling Disappointed.
1. Don't just mope around but get perspective: instead of sitting around and feeling sad and frustrated. Sit down and get yourself together, observe the situation try to get meaning full data like what caused it, and try to find a solution to it.
2. Don't Hold On To It: Don't Stress It,do not overthink it, let it go, move on. It is not going to be fun or easy but you need to let go if it As soon as possible, do not let it weigh you down and waste your time.
3. Don't become pessimistic: don't become that person(s) who always expect the worst, don't stop believing, keep hoping, expect again and it will be alright.
4. Don't Face it alone: if you can talk to someone about how you feel, someone you trust can give you attention and help do things to help you get over it.
